The concept of 'The Soft Guy Era' came up after 'The Soft Girl Era,' which gained momentum on TikTok in 2023, when many women decided to abandon the idea of being a ‘Girl Boss,’ and instead chose stress-free living, self-care and finding someone who could support them financially; and along with this notion the phrase “Sizzle Sizzle” was born. ‘The Soft Girl Era’ was criticized by others as another reinforcement of patriarchy. So, lo and behold, The Soft Guy Era was founded as a counteraction by @scarfacemark on Tik Tok. After that, more and more men have decided to follow suit and unite as ‘Soft Boys’ recently, thus launching the controversial ‘Soft Guy Era,' coining the oft accompanying overused cringeworthy phrase “DRIZZLE DRIZZLE.” There has been much backlash over many Soft Boy opinions of entitlement such as: “WHY WOULDN'T YOU BE PAYING?, it’s 2024.
